One Love United
There have been many different reactions and responses to what has been happening with the Black Lives Matter movement, but the truth is, it is all of our issue. Our outer physical world experience is a mirror showing us what is going on inside of us as individuals. And our global community is a reflection of the collective consciousness. As the macrocosm, so the microcosm.
I must admit that I have felt somewhat separated from the Black Lives Matter movement. I have felt ignorant about it really. I grew up in a small town in the interior of British Columbia Canada and didn’t feel I was exposed to much racism against black people. There were very few people of African descent in the little town that I grew up in, and because my parents “weren’t at all racist” it wasn’t a part of my world. I didn’t understand it. It made no sense to me, so I didn’t feel I had much experience with racism…
…When I really think about it though, what I did experience growing up was the effect of how poorly the Canadian First Nations people were treated in the 70’s. The effects I observed were; reserve land that looked like it was a third world country, in complete shambles, in chaos. It seemed like a dangerous place to visit and if I ever had to be there, I made sure it wasn’t for long. Rampant alcoholism that was out of control within their communities and often visible within the town. Being born into this, I didn’t make any personal statements against first Nations people. As a child, I just came to the unconscious conclusion that “this is just the way it is”, and it’s “just the way First Nations people are”, and it had nothing to do with me.
… I may not have intentionally created these beliefs, and it may have just been the way it was when I was growing up… but these beliefs that were born within me, were still mine. This is not at all the way the First Nations communities are now, their has been a miraculous transformation that has occurred over the years, but if I didn’t check my programming growing up I could still have a negative, perception about them. We all have stories of programming placed in us from our upbringing, our environment and ideals- that were not ours placed within us, but if they are still cycling within us, they are our responsibility.
We must all take responsibility for beliefs whether we are the ones that formed them or not. Our beliefs create our reality and our collective beliefs form a collective consciousness that forms the global society that we are all part off and are experiencing. We are all contributing to this collective consciousness whether we are aware of it or not.
When we change on the inside then, and only then, will the outer world experience sustainably change. We can throw all the money at it we want and can pay the movement all the lip-service to it that we want, but the only way it will really change is if the change comes from inside of humanity. This is the opportunity we are all being presented with right now. To participate in changing the beliefs that are still operating within us that are keeping us apart- believing in a separation that comes out by way of “things are the way they are because that’s how it has always been, so that’s the way it is.” – unconscious judgment and prejudice.
The irony about this, is that a detached way of thinking, a habitual way of perceiving the world as ‘that’s the way it is’ effects how we look at everything from cultures, countries, languages, religion, genders, sexual preferences, to friends and family… coming back to our self. The truth is that we cannot judge another unless we are first judging our self. The act of judgement and condemning is very disempowering to us and is meant to hurt or diminish the other. This goes directly against our very nature of connection and grace, our soul if you will. It hurts us. Someone who is racist and condemning of others is very disconnected, is driven by ego, is in pain.
When we as people, as a race, are willing to take an honest look inside of ourselves, are willing to take responsibility for our part as contributors to this world, when we are willing to give ourselves what we need to change the belief about separation and judgment inside of us, then great change can and will happen in the world. This belief in separation is what we all have to heal inside of ourselves. It is what will bring us back into wholeness, first as individuals and then as a society. One Love United.
Racism is the most ridiculous thing in the world. Judging someone from the color of their skin? The contour of their features? Where they were born or grew up? What does this really have to do with the person? – The life that emanates through the eyes, the skin, the voice, the heart of this person? Nothing.
Life is weightless. When we die the weight of our body does not change. Therefore, to judge a person by their form in any way is incorrect, is a mistake. In order to understand a person, you must listen to, feel, and want to understand them. Their body–their package, is just the wrapping. The present, the gift of life that this person is emanates from the inside out. You have to get to know them on the inside before you can have any idea about them.
To judge an entire culture is born out of complete ignorance. It has absolutely nothing to do with even the culture itself. As Wayne Dyer said ‘when one person judges another, it has nothing to do with the other person. It is simply that persons need to judge’.
You can use the card that says ‘I didn’t create it this way. It’s always been this way. It’s just the way it is.’ And that may be true, but that is still a belief. It is a belief you have inside of you. It is yours. Take responsibility, dig a little deeper into your Self and transform these old erroneous beliefs. We are powerful beings who have the ability to affect our world, to change these old beliefs into ones that can actually serve you, serve the human race now.
We are evolving. We are moving out of the old insane way of cutting our Self up into pieces. It’s time to come back together into wholeness. Back Into the truth of our Being. One love united.
